James Joyce
James Joyce was a very influential modernist writer who wrote in a ground-breaking style that was known both for its complexity and explicit content. Some of his most famous works were Ulysses and Dubliners. Joyce was a literary genius who learned to speak and read in 17 different languages including Sanskrit, Arabic, and Italian.
John F. Kennedy
35th President of the United States. Known as civil rights activist, negotiated the Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty and initiated the Alliance for Progress. He was assassinated in 1963.
Mary Harris Jones
Born in 1930, Mary Harris Jones known as "Mother Jones" was a union activist. She founded the Social Democratic Party, and helped establish the Industrial Workers of the World.
Mary Robinson
Educator, Activist, Lawyer. Robinson served as president of Ireland (1990–97) and as United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (1997–2002)
William Yeats
Playwright, Poet, Yeats was one of the greatest English-language poets of the 20th century and received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1923. Considered one of the most significant modern poets.
Oscar Wilde
Writer, Wilde is best known for the novel The Picture of Dorian Gray and the play The Importance of Being Earnest, as well as for his infamous arrest and imprisonment for being homosexual.
Bono
Singer, Activist. Bono is the front man of the Irish rock band U2. He's also known for participating in global charity efforts.
