                     Maria Gaetana Agnesi-Philosopher, Mathematician
Maria Gaetana Agnesi is best known for writing the first book discussing integral and differential calculus in 1748.

                              Maria Montessori-Physician, Educator
Montessori became the First Female Doctor in Italy 1896. Montessori was a pioneer of theories in early childhood education, which are still implemented in Montessori schools all over the globe.
 
 
Rita Levi Montalcini- Neurologist, Educator, Academic Author
Rita Levi-Montalcini shared the 1986 Nobel Prize for physiology or medicine for her part in the discovery of a protein that stimulates nerve cell growth.
 
                                                  
 
Filippo Brunelleschi-Engineer, Architect
Brunelleschi was one of the leading architects and engineers of the Italian Renaissance, and is best known for his work on the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (the Duomo) in Florence
                       
 Leonardo DaVinci-Mathematician, Artist, Inventor,  Writer, Musician
Born in 1492, Leonardo da Vinci was considered a genius and epitome of the perfect Renaissance Man.  He was a gifted artist and intellectual of the Italian Renaissance who's known for his enduring works "The Last Supper" and "Mona Lisa." One of his many sketches included designs of flying machines  400 years prior to the Wright Brothers. Considered the most diversely talented person to have ever lived.
 
Galileo Galilei-Astronomer, Physicist, Mathematician, Philosopher
Considered the "Father of Modern Science" he has also been called "The father of modern physics" and "The father of modern observational astronomy". Born in 1564, Italian scientist and scholar Galileo made pioneering observations that laid the foundation for modern physics and astronomy.

                                              
                                           Antonio Meucci-Inventor, Scientist
Meucci is best known for developing a voice-communication apparatus which several sources credit as the first telephone. Meucci set up a form of voice-communication link in his home that connected its second-floor bedroom to his laboratory.[He submitted a patent caveat for his telephonic device to the U.S. Patent Office in 1871, but there was no mention of electromagnetic transmission of vocal sound in his caveat. In 1876, Alexander Graham Bell was granted a patent for the electromagnetic transmission of vocal sound by undulatory electric current.
                                                      
                                       Giovanni da Verrazzano-Explorer
Verrazzano was an Italian explorer who chartered the Atlantic coast of North America between the Carolinas and Newfoundland, including New York Harbor in 1524. The Verrazano–Narrows Bridge in New York was named after him.

                                                   
                                                 Amerigo Vespucci-Explorer
America was named after Amerigo Vespucci, a Florentine navigator and explorer who played a prominent role in exploring the New World. Vespucci discovered present-day Rio de Janeiro and Rio de la Plata. Believing he had discovered a new continent, he called South America the New World.
                                        
                                    Antonio Vivaldi-Educator, Musician, Priest
Vivaldi was a 17th and 18th century composer who’s become one of the most renowned figures in European classical music. Known for his 4-Part Masterpeice, The Seasons.

 Franco Modigliani-Economist 
Modigliani won a Nobel Prize in 1985 for his research of household savings and financial markets 

                                             
                             Guglielmo  Marconi-Inventor, Physicist
Through his experiments in wireless telegraphy, Nobel Prize-winning physicist/inventor Guglielmo Marconi developed the first effective system of radio communication.
                                    
                 Michelangelo-Architect, Painter, Sculptor, Poet
Michelangelo is widely regarded as the most famous artist of the Italian Renaissance. Among his works are the "David" and "Pieta" statues and the Sistine Chapel frescoes. 
 
Andrea Bocelli-Singer, Pianist
Andrea Bocelli is a tenor singer who has had great popular success and is known for his work with Luciano Pavarotti.

A tenor known for his larger-than-life showmanship, Luciano Pavarotti helped expand the popularity of opera worldwide.
                                                    

                                         Andrea Pirlo- Soccer Player
One of soccer's top midfielders with A.C. Milan and Juventus, Andrea Pirlo, known as "The Architect" led Italy to the 2006 FIFA World Cup championship.
